Classifications and Requirements

An application for admission to Kennesaw State University is required for all applicants. Deadlines and requirements may vary based on classification.

Admission Classifications and Applicant Instructions

Freshman: You have graduated from high school within the last five years and never attended another college.

Transfer Freshman: You have graduated from high school in the last five years and attended another college, but you have earned less than 30 semester hours or 50 quarter hours of college credit that will transfer to Kennesaw State University. 

Transfer: You have earned at least 30 semester hours or 50 quarter hours of college credit that will transfer to Kennesaw State University.          

Non-Traditional/Adult Learners: You have graduated from high school more than five years ago and currently hold a high school diploma or satisfactorily completed the GED.

Dual Enrollment Honors Program: Dual Enrollment is concurrent enrollment in high school and college while a high school junior or senior. This program is designed for academically accelerated students.

International: International students must meet basic admission requirements for their classification, and you may have additional requirements based on visa type, country of origin and educational history.

 

Home Educated: A home educated student graduated from a non-accredited high school or independent educational program that is supervised by a parent or tutor and has not earned 30 semester hours or 50 quarter hours of college credit that will transfer to Kennesaw State University.

 

Transient: You are a guest at Kennesaw State University from another college or university for one term. You must be verified by your home institution as eligible to return.

 

Readmission: Former Kennesaw State University students that must apply for readmission include those who have not been enrolled at KSU for six consecutive semesters, last attended as a transient student or returning after academic dismissal or learning support exclusion. As well, students who wish to change their status (such as transient to degree seeking, degree seeking to non-degree) must apply for readmission.

Non-Degree: Applicants that already hold a baccalaureate degree from an accredited institution and wish to take courses for personal enrichment may apply as non-degree seeking students. Please be aware that financial aid is not available for non-degree seeking students.

 

Additional Classifications of Prospective Students

 

Kennesaw State Admission Scholars: Admission Scholars represent the top freshmen accepted to Kennesaw State and enjoy exciting opportunities through the Honors Program.

Online Students: You must be admitted to Kennesaw State based on one of the above admission classification to be considered for our various online degree programs.

Veterans: Those who have served our country fall under one of the above admission classifications and have additional resources on campus for their military service.

Auditor: Audit students must apply and be accepted into Kennesaw State based on one of the above admission classifications to audit courses.

NOTE:  All enrolling students must provide the University System of Georgia proof of immunization to the Health Clinic.  Also, all applicants who apply for in-state tuition must provide lawful presence verification.
